Tragedy points to systemic issues

This motel was mostly full of emergency DSS recipients, people who couldn’t find/afford proper housing and were stuck there until they could find something more permanent. In the early morning of June 22nd a fire broke out, killing 6 and displacing 73. There are reports of there being no smoke alarms, or if there were any they malfunctioned. In response to this tragedy an encampment has formed in front of the local court house, demanding the government do more to look after our least fortunate.
